Β Rank Advancement

Rank advancement is an important part of the Scouts BSA program. It gives Scouts the opportunity to learn new skills, practice what they have learned, take on responsibility, serve others, and grow in confidence and leadership.

At Troop 574, advancement is a Scout-led journey. Scouts work toward their requirements through troop meetings, campouts, outdoor activities, service projects, leadership opportunities, and activities they can complete at home. Requirements are designed to be completed over timeβ€”not simply checked off all at once.

For Parents & New Families

If you are new to Scouts BSA, this page will help you understand what each rank requires, where requirements can be completed, and how Troop 574 helps Scouts progress.

You will find the requirements organized by rank, along with helpful tips, activities, videos, homework ideas, and opportunities to complete requirements during troop events.

Parents are encouraged to support and encourage their Scout, but the Scout should take ownership of their advancement. Our goal is not just to earn badgesβ€”it is to help each Scout learn by doing, become more independent, and develop the skills and leadership needed for life.

The advancement journey begins with Scout, continues through Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star, and Life, and culminates in Eagle Scout.

Advancement is a journey, not a race. Each requirement is an opportunity for a Scout to learn, practice, demonstrate, and grow.
